# Remote Widgets

WineDirect Remote Widgets allow designers to pull 'live' data from a WineDirect-hosted website to a website not hosted with WineDirect. No server-side scripting is required.

**IMPORTANT** Our remote widgets will work on most platforms that support direct HTML and Javascript injection onto their websites. Wordpress and Squarespace are popular CMS platforms and are known to work with our remote widgets. Wix and Bentobox are platforms that do NOT work with our remote widgets.

Product security doesn't not work with remote widgets.

A common use for small widgets is for shop-only sites. When the main content site is not hosted with WineDirect, adding remote widgets helps make the shopping experience seamless for your customers.

 Due to a recent change in cookies for Safari and Chrome, wineries using Remote Widgets must update their WineDirect Remote Widget script to include the following lines:

<script type="text/javascript">vin65remote.cart.init('https://generic.vin65.com',0);</script>
```

When updating from vin65remotetools.1.1 to vin65remotetools.1.2, the following scripts will need to be removed :

<script type=“text/javascript”>vin65remote.cart.addToCart('https://generic.vin65.com');</script>
```
