Adding Orders in WineDirect

A new page will open by clicking "ADD ORDER" at the top right of the Orders page, allowing users to create customer orders. 

WineDirect currently only supports order creation for customers with existing profiles only. Learn how to add a customer before creating a new order here.

Order Creation Tiles

The top of a new order being created in WineDirect has mandatory styles that must be selected; they are:

Customer

By clicking 'Select Customer,' a search bar will appear. The user can search for any existing customer to add to the order.

Delivery Method

Users can select the 'Delivery Method' tile to change whether the order will be picked up or shipped.

Sale Type

Selecting the 'Sale Type' allows users to select whether an order is on-site or off-site.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Compliance for the order will fail if the selected off-site state is not enabled in the WineDirect basic compliance settings.

Order Type

Clicking 'Order Type' allows users to choose the order type manually. 

Adding Billing, Shipping/Pickup, and Payment Information

Billing and Shipping Addresses

A customer's default address will be added automatically to the shipping and billing sections once a customer is added to an order. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Selecting Edit Billing or Edit Shipping only allows the user to select addresses that are saved to a customer profile, and saved address information cannot be edited in the order creation process.


Pickup Address

An order set to pickup allows for editing the location and inventory pools used. The available pickup locations will depend on the inventory settings created in WineDirect.

Payment Method

Payment methods can only be edited to cards saved to a customer's wallet in their customer profile.


Selecting Products

Users can add products to an order that already exists within WineDirect by using the search bar. Learn how to add a new product here.


IMPORTANT NOTE: If ShipCompliant is integrated with WineDirect, ShipCompliant will add the appropriate taxes to an order based on pickup or shipping location.

Editing Line Items

Selecting the ellipses (...) next to any line item of an order once products are added, prices can be changed, promotions can be added, products can be deleted, and shipping methods can be changed. Descriptions of the functions of these line items can be found HERE.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If a new shipping method is selected (i.e., change Ship by Weight to UPS Standard), taxes and shipping costs will automatically be updated.

Adding Order Comments

If order comments are added, they appear on the customer's invoices and packing slips. These are not private internal comments for users.


Additionally, a user and department can be selected for analytics reasons to show who should be given credit for the revenue of the order and what kind of sale was made (i.e., marketing cost or tasting room).

Process Order

When Process Order is clicked, the user will be redirected to the Order List page, where the new order will appear with a Pending status. This means the order is being processed, and compliance is being checked. A new status will appear once compliance has been checked, indicating whether the transaction was successful.
