If internet service is ever disconnected, the WineDirect Point of Sale app allows for an Offline Mode where transactions can be completed and guests can conclude their experiences without interruption.

How to Enable Offline Mode

From the WineDirect Point of Sale app, press the ellipses (...) at the top right of the screen and select Settings. On the settings window at the bottom right, a slider can be pressed titled Offline Mode. Once pressed, a notification window will open, confirming that the user is in Offline Mode.

The icon at the bottom right of the settings window will turn red and change the status to Offline.

Offline Orders

When taking orders in Offline Mode, there are key functionality that should be noted:

  • Pickup orders are the only option available.
  • Cash and manual credit card entry are the only forms of payment.
  • All orders taken in Offline Mode need to be manually processed when an internet connection is established.
  • Offline orders can be deleted before processing.
  • Promotions will not be applied automatically to orders. Prices will need to be manually changed in the cart.
  • Tipping is available in Offline Mode.

Offline Inventory and Customers

When in Offline Mode, there are key functionalities that should be noted regarding products and inventory:

  • Inventory is cached, and the POS will not allow oversell based on the most recent inventory cache. Inventory is not updated while in Offline Mode.
  • The last known inventory levels can be viewed by long-pressing a product and viewing the Inventory tab of that product's profile.
  • Customer profiles can be viewed in Offline Mode, but profile edits and creations are not supported.

Important Considerations

When using Offline Mode, there are key considerations a user is responsible for being aware of before taking an offline order:

  • Offline mode is not intended to replace POS functionality. There is a risk that an order will fail to be processed once an internet connection is established.
  • The user is responsible for expired, declined, or disputed payments accepted in Offline Mode.
  • If there are pending offline payments, do not delete the app from your iPad, and do not factory reset the device used to take the payment.
  • There is a possibility a guest can leave with inventory and a payment declines.
  • If a payment card is declined, WineDirect cannot provide customer contact information or contact the customer on the user's behalf.
