Product Categories allow for the creation of unique product pages within different channels. These can be displayed prominently under the website's Shop Menu, organized as a sub-category within a Parent Category, or made invisible to use as a product segment.
To find Product Categories within the WIneDirect Dashboard: Login to WineDirect > Settings > Product Categories.
Choosing a Channel
After selecting Product Categories, choose the specific channel where a category will be edited or created.
Adding or Editing Product Categories
Once a channel is selected, a list of all created categories is available. Categories Settings are found by selecting the Elipses (...) next to a specific category. If a new category needs to be added, select + Add Category at the top right of the main category list.
A new window will open, and all required fields will be available to update.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Remember to click Submit at the bottom of the page to save any changes made.

| Category Name | Customizable name for the Product Category. |
| Channel | This is the channel where the specific category will be visible. This is only applicable if multiple storefronts are present. |
| URL | A customizable URL for the category that is visible to search engine listings and customers via their web browser address bar. |
| Template Layout File -Under Construction- | Currently, only the default layout is available |
| Description (Optional) | An optional field where a short description can be written about the category that will be seen on the Product Categories webpage |
| Parent Catagory | If "No Parent Category" is selected, then the new Product Category will become a Parent Category. If a Parent Category is selected, then the Product Category will become a sub-category. |
| Default Product Sort | The default organization of products when a customer views the Product Category webpage |
| Sort Order | The lower the number, the more prominent a Product Category will be displayed in the Shop section of the website. |
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
To optimize a Product Category page for potential customer search engine results, it is optional to add a Pages Title, Meta Keywords, Meta Description, and Search Keywords.
Adding Products to a Category
The Categories section of a Product's Details is used to make the product visible on the website and POS app within a category webpage.
To add a product to a Product Category, go to Products > Select a Product > Click Categories > Fill Necessary Fields > Click Submit.
Add New Category in Product Details
Creating Product Categories from a Product's Details is possible by clicking the "+ Add Category" at the top right of the section.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If anything other than the category name or Parent Category selection needs to be customized, this must be done in the Product Category section of Settings.
