Here are some common questions about data storage at WineDirect.

Data Storage FAQs

Where is the data stored?

The data is stored on WineDirect servers in a secure cloud datacenter with Amazon. WineDirect's databases are located in a private subnet behind a VPN separate from all other systems, which ensures that there is no direct access to our production or staging databases. WineDirect's servers are hosted with Amazon's cloud based web services (AWS), which are Level 1 PCI-DSS certified. This means that Amazon's PCI compliance covers all requirements as defined by PCI DSS for physical infrastructure service providers where the physical servers are housed.

How often do you back up the data?

We back up the data nightly for up to one month (actually, it's up to 31 days).

What precautions are taken so data is not lost?

The nightly backup is the primary method; replication when in use is for system failure and doesn’t protect data deletion as it is replicated real time. Restores for specific data can be completed to any day with-in the previous 31 days. An additional point in time backup is completed Jan 31st and retained for 1 year. Data entered and deleted the same day cannot be recovered. Costs incurred for data restores are based on time involved to do the restore, and data re-integration are billed at $200/hour.
