WineDirect Ecommerce system was developed to calculate and collect sales tax on orders where applicable. WineDirect Classic allows you to manually set up your tax configuration under State Profiles and also to connect with third-party tax service, such as ShipCompliant, to automate your tax configuration.
Additionally, other fees such as CRV fees in California and other District Taxes can also be easily setup and applied to orders inside of WineDirect's system. This section will explain the relevant aspects of Tax and Fee setup as well as inform the best practices for accountants to extract the tax information from WineDirect's system.
PLEASE NOTE
If you use a Third-party Compliance provider, such as ShipCompliant, the tax rates in your state profile are of the system will be overridden if you use their Tax by Zip Code option. We still recommend that you insert the state profile taxes in the Admin Panel in WineDirect Classic as a backup tax rate for the State if the zipcode lookup does not successfully pull a tax rate.
