2022 Update

Throughout our 2021 website accessibility audit, WineDirect has made several improvements to our templates and back-end code to allow users of all abilities to shop online.

If your winery is wondering how accessible your website was in 2022, we invite you to contact our partner, Allyant, to conduct a website audit and make recommended accessibility improvements.

As of July 26, 2019, WineDirect has completed a comprehensive third-party accessibility audit certifying that our ecommerce tools meet the accessibility standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Allyant, a leader in website and technology accessibility auditing, executed the audit. We specifically chose to partner with Allyant because they employ live-user testing instead of relying solely on automated screening tools. To our knowledge, we are the first and only winery ecommerce platform to undergo such an audit.

After extensive testing and updates by the WineDirect team, Allyant has awarded us a Letter of Digital Accessibility Conformance affirming that:

  • Live-user accessibility testers could successfully access, use, and navigate the website.
  • Live-user accessibility testers did not encounter any accessibility blockers that would deny a user using assistive technology from accessing the main content and functionality as of our Quality Assurance testing on July 25, 2019.
  • The website substantially conforms with Level A and Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.0.
  • WineDirect has addressed all issues in our control and is actively working with third-party vendors to remediate any external issues, ensuring the vendor is aware of the accessibility barriers.

In addition, WineDirect has retained Allyant to provide ongoing accessibility monitoring. With this monitoring, Allyant will perform ongoing accessibility testing and monitoring of selected website elements, including live-user testing twice annually.

The audit applies to all WineDirect website templates in their original form implemented after July 26, 2019. If you change a WineDirect template, you must ensure that those updates meet ADA accessibility requirements. If you have a custom design or use a third-party template, please get in touch with your web designer to ask them about their accessibility compliance.

If you built your website using one of our templates before July 26, 2019, you will need to make certain updates to your website to meet accessibility guidelines.
