What is Temperature-Controlled Shipping?

Temp Control shipping is a great way to continue providing an elevated delivery experience for your customers so they may continue to order and enjoy their favorite wines during the warmer months. This service places your orders on a refrigerated truck and essentially "leapfrogs" them across the country to ensure temperature integrity for the main portion of the journey until handed over to UPS for the final mile. The Southern Line Haul handoffs are Arizona, Texas and Florida, whereas the Northern Line Haul travels directly to Ohio. This service is available to select states and is best utilized for orders that cannot reach their destination within 2 business days.

For added protection from over-heating for the final mile, you have the option to SKU COOLPACKS or ECOCOOLPACKS on your orders before submitting to the Fulfillment portal so that your wines will be packed in the appropriate packaging and have ice packs added into the packaging at the handoff points. The ice packs are designed to last approximately 48-72 hours depending on external conditions.

Once temp control orders ship in our system, the tracking number(s) will be provided, however, please note that they will not be live until handed over to and scanned by UPS.

Please see our temp controlled shipping maps for each location for a complete understanding of your wine's journey based on which facility you are shipping from and expected delivery timeframes.

If placing a future requested ship date on a temp control order, make sure it is no later than the business day before the actual ship date for WD scheduling purposes.

  • NV, OR & WA – Ground, 2 Day, and Overnight services are available via both UPS and FedEx. Add COOLPACK or ECOCOOLPACK to order if you feel it's needed for added protection based on weather conditions.
  • AK & HI – The only services available year-round are 2 Day or Priority Overnight. Add COOLPACK or ECOCOOLPACK to order if you feel it's needed for added protection based on weather conditions.
  • CO, ID, MT, NM – Ground, 2 Day, and Overnight services are available via both UPS and FedEx. Add COOLPACK or ECOCOOLPACK to order if you feel it's needed for added protection based on weather conditions and you may also consider shipping 2 Day or Overnight as the ice packs perform best in their first 48 hours and these states are approximately 3+ business days for delivery via Ground shipping.
